The Tooth Corner in Etobicoke Provides Care When You Need It

Women with tooth painIf anyone in your family has experienced a dental emergency, our Etobicoke family dentists can usually see you on the same day. Once you’re here, we’ll do everything possible to relieve your pain or even start treatment if time allows.

When You Need to Be Seen Straightaway

There are some situations where you may need to see a dentist immediately. Some of the most common dental emergencies that we address include instances such as

  • Chipped or cracked teeth
  • Trauma from accidents or falls
  • Dental injuries in children
  • Lacerations to the lip
  • Tooth knocked out
  • A cavity that flares up
  • Wisdom tooth pain

Once You Arrive

The first thing we need to do for a dental emergency is take an X-ray to be sure that the traumatised tooth is not broken. Once we have this image, we can provide a comprehensive exam to assess the extent of your oral health needs.

Depending on what findings our dentists see, we may need to do one of the following:

  • Monitor the tooth to see how it responds to medication or a period of healing
  • Remove the tooth if trauma or pain is severe
  • Remove the nerve of the tooth if it is abscessed
  • Start or schedule treatment to repair the tooth

If the pain is originating at a partially impacted wisdom tooth, the inflamed area may only need to be cleaned.

Your Emergency Treatment Plan

Based on how severe the infection or trauma is, we will discuss treatment options to repair the tooth or refer you to an appropriate specialist when required. Each case is extremely unique, so it is impossible for us to know exactly what is necessary until an X-ray and exam have been completed.
